Getting a sash right is a matter of proportion. Meeting rail height, glazing bar width, horn detail and the ratio between upper and lower sash all have to be read from the original before anything is manufactured. We survey those details rather than assuming them.

Behind the traditional face, spiral or weighted balances give a smooth slide, brush seals kill the draughts, and slim double glazed units fit within an authentic bar profile. In conservation areas we can advise on what is generally acceptable, though the local authority always has the final say.
